Not Another Poem

 

                                      “Not Another Poem”!

My dear wife as usual called out loud to me,

while I contemplate what next subject should be.

 

Momentum abruptly halts, but must not abort,

await trigger, perhaps nature, history, today, or sport.

 

Swiftly, mental surge, creates couplet on each above,

that would appeal to many, surely one they love.

 

Flora, fauna, preserve global beauty, ensure it lasts,

conical Norfolk Pines convicts axed, then split as masts.

 

Days of yore, tribes, nations, religions, powerful, dominant,

current world traumas, wars, deaths, again predominant.

 

Democracy declines, politicians disappoint constituents,

strive to retain power, thus lack positive judgements.

 

Sport encourages all walks of life, as a stimulant

caring, sharing, due to their involvement.

 

Today science, medical, protect humans young and old,

recognition all deeds beyond humanity to gauge.
