PATHOS
PATHOS
Days of yore:
Eyes hooded, hands gnarled, grasped quill
frenetic, as though no tomorrow,
decisive aged dogmas, fester ill will,
racism, innuendos, which incite sorrow.
Today:
As night follows day, violence, hate,
fodder for global zealots to manipulate.
Power by birth:
Despots, uniforms, prey on colour, culture, creed,
uneducated masses denigrated, abused by greed.
Daily challenges:
A male’s insecurities stealthily unfurled,
but gender equality fragile, in our flawed world,
females determined, positive, strive for parity,
forging forward mentally, each democracy.
Heartfelt:
Forgive us, Samaritans of goodwill and kind,
dedicated to caring, sharing, survival of mankind.
