WHISPERING DEATH
WHISPERING DEATH
Winter
chill, clear sky, early dusk, longest day,
imagine buzzing fireflies, encircling bay,
while south bound headlights constantly flicker,
exhausts spew carbon, engulfs lungs of walker.
Sandy cove,
calm seas, horizon, ships at anchor,
our eyes focus on cyclist hemmed in by gutter,
minute beam forward, rear faint, clearly at fault,
as tranquillity
dispelled, tyres swish upon asphalt,
Aghast, in deadly black gear, whispering death,
driver guileless, we gasp an inaudible breath,
cyclist must wear vests, aglow, day thru night,
slips by truck, amazingly, safely out of sight.
