                                           WHY IS IT SO?

 

Antiquity:

Sinuous serpent stealthily slithered

sibilant sounds waken “Eve”, thus disturbed,

bites apple, forbidden by folklore

"Adam" wide eyed devours, to the core.

Mesmerised, due to sensual stimulation

her naked form inspired his glorification.

 

History:

Male protector, provider, hunter

in, out, their abode, natural enforcer,

female servitude, warmth, food, family

loving servant, manipulated daily.

 

Primeval chauvinistic supremacy obsessive

mental, sexual, subjugated, strive to live,

religious passions, tribal laws, despotic,

males exert power, fearsome fanatic.

 

Repressed days of yore, a sudden lightning bolt,

leaders share new regime, from birth to adult,

evolution, elevate “Eve”, equality with “Adam”,

as glass ceiling smashed, processing freedom.

 

Today:

However, testosterone of many “Adams”

terrorize wives, partners, family, friends,

inflict physical, mental, abusive violence,

majority fearful to report, suffer in silence.

 

Would “Eve” accept “Adam’s” apology 1000 years on?
